I Am... Bethany Ball
I Am Poem
I am a daughter, a sister, the oldest of five.
Raised in a small town with big city dreams.
I am packing and moving with new sights to see,
always dreaming and thinking of new places to be,
but an overachiever that lacks motivation to do anything.
I am hot chocolate and marshmallows,
soft blankets and snow,
saving moments in photographs that have nowhere to go.
I am hoodies and leggings and dancing in the rain.
Gritting my teeth to get through any pain.
I am browned eyed and ditzy with emotions to spare.
Seventeen, not too young nor quite old,
only beginning my life,
with a long way to go.

You're right--you've got so much living and learning yet to do. And isn't that wonderful to know? I know what you mean about having lots of grand ideas and goals to achieve but falling short on the motivation! I am also always thinking about packing up and making a fresh start in a new house or daydreaming about my family and I just taking off and going to live somewhere totally different and new. I hope all your "big city dreams" come true but that you always remember the small town roots you come from. Thanks, Bethany!
ReplyDeleteI love the rhyme and rhythm your poem has! Very clever : )
ReplyDeleteI am also hot chocolate and marshmallows, I drink the drink anytime throughout the year! IT'S JUST TOO GOOD.
